WHat's going on

November is entrepreneurship month

During the month of November JAGHR will be providing Launch Lessons to high school students. JA Launch Lesson is designed to coincide with National Entrepreneurship Month in November. The program brings an entrepreneur into a high school classroom to engage students in a one-hour presentation aimed to inspire and share with young people what it takes to launch and run a business venture. If you are an entrepreneur and would like to lead a launch lesson, please visit the volunteer opportunities page and go to High School Opportunities.  We have kicked off our entrepreneurship events a little early and participated in an Entrepreneurship Summit in partnership with Opportunity Inc. and Suntrust. The goal of this Summit was to engage local high school students and provide them with lifelong skills along with advice on how to run a business. JA Staff along with Sam Weatherly of MakerMex led students in a Design Thinking seminar, to get them to think outside of the box and create rapid prototypes of a product meant to help their partner with a current problem. Thank you again to Opportunity Inc. for having us and to Suntrust as well for being an awesome partner!

ja jOB Shadow

On October 18th, students from Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach participated in a Job Shadow event at STIHL. JA Job Shadow provides high school students with a classroom and site-based programs that prepares them to be entrepreneurial thinks and ecourages them to develop personal strategies to pursue lifelong learning and career opportunities. We would like to thank STIHL for being a proud partner and supporting JAGHR and we look forward to continuing our relationship.
